What is the Required Content?

Explain your idea for a product, service, or technology that can be used as the foundation for a new business, focusing on the following 5 sections:

1. What is the social problem or need your idea addresses?

In 750 characters or less (including spaces) describe the social challenge that your idea addresses and to which of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) does it relate? Your idea must be related to one of the 17 UN SDGs which you can view here..

2. How are you solving the problem or addressing the need you identified?

In 750 characters or less (including spaces) describe what your product, service, or solution does to solve the problem (or addresses the need) identified above. Describe the features/characteristics of your product, service or solution. Explain how your product, service, or solution differs from what is currently available to solve the problem/fulfill the need that you identified above.

3. Who or what does your idea benefit?

In 750 characters or less (including spaces) describe the groups or communities that will benefit from your product, service, or solution.  Include some possible characteristics of individuals that would benefit from your idea, e.g. income level, exposure to people of diverse backgrounds and access to health and educational services.  Provide evidence that the group(s) will would be open to your idea.

4. Who Are The Members of your team?

In 750 characters or less (including spaces) introduce yourself and if applicable your team and describe how your background and experience have prepared you to address the problem/need or why you are interested in addressing the problem/need.

5. What is the benefit your idea provides?

In 750 characters or less (including spaces) explain the benefit that your idea provides.  A benefit is a positive outcome derived from a characteristic or characteristics of the product, service, or solution.

What should a submission look like?

We have created a sample project to give a general understanding on answering the questions and formatting your answers.

Where do I submit?

Submit your ideas through the Startup Tree platform. Be sure to submit before February 26th, 2024 at 11:59PM as no late submissions will be accepted. Best of luck in the competition!
